Residential Treatment Center
Learn about the proposed “residential treatment center,” its components and intended use, and how the Official Development Plan limits, or does not limit, the services that will be offered.
“A facility licensed by the Colorado Behavioral Health Administration pursuant to Article 27 of the Colorado Revised Statutes that provides 24-hour residential care, supervision, and therapeutic treatment for individuals with emotional, behavioral, or substance use disorders in a structured residential environment, in accordance with applicable state rules and regulations.”
The OPD states the Residential Treatment Center would have a “Healing Center” licensed under Colorado law to provide psychedelic drug treatment to those clients are over 21 or older (referred to as “participants.”) It says the services would be provided “for the benefit of Residents and Participants receiving treatment services on the Property.” Greystone is proposing to admit younger residents but would restrict the psychedelic drug services to those 21 and older, as required by Colorado law.The OPD adds a “Medical Office” to support the Residential Treatment Center. It would provide services not only for the clients but also “staff and invited guests.” The ODP states:
Medical office activities shall be limited to services supporting the treatment, care, assessment, counseling, wellness, recovery, and healing programs provided on the Property and shall serve only residents, participants, staff, and invited guests associated with the Residential Treatment Center and Healing Center use(s).
The ODP limits the number of overnight clients to 30 who will stay a minimum of 30 days. It does not specify any minimum age, so children and adolescents may be admitted as well as adults. It does not include any screening requirements, so it does not require sobriety, clean criminal records, or medical fitness following detox.Under the ODP, no clinical or wellness services are required to be provided by the “Residential Treatment Center.” The ODP just would allow psychedelic drug treatment and whatever minimal residential care, supervision and therapeutic treatment the state requires a group living facility to provide to be licensed.
